The Voice of Holland returning to Dutch television in January 2026
The Voice of Holland and The Voice Kids will return to television in January 2026, RTL announced. The broadcaster implemented extra rules of conduct to protect contestants and everyone else involved after revelations of large-scale sexual misconduct behind the scenes of The Voice of Holland resulted in all series of the reality show disappearing from Dutch TV.
“Together with producer ITV, we have done everything we can to bring back The Voice in a safe way,” said RTL director Peter van der Vorst. “We have not only worked intensively on the quality of the content, but also on the quality of the process.”
Ilse DeLange, Willie Wartaal, Suzan & Freek, and Dinand Woesthoff will be the coaches on The Voice of Holland. Chantal Janzen and Edson Da Graça will present the program, which will be broadcast on RTL 4. Da Graça is standing in for Martijn Krabbé, who is sick.
For The Voice Kids, Claude, Ile DeLange, Flemming, and Emma Heesters will be in the jury chairs. Jamai Loman and Quinty Misiedjan will be the presenters.
“When I was fourteen, I auditioned for The Voice Kids, now I can sit in the red chair myself!” Claude wrote on Instagram. “Really looking forward to this adventure.”
Suzan & Freek had many conversations with the makers of the program, “given what has come out in recent years,” they wrote. “We believe that we can create something very beautiful with a new team.”
In January 2022, BOOS reported about widespread sexual misconduct on The Voice of Holland. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) prosecuted former coach Ali B and former band leader Jeroen Rietbergen for multiple sex crimes. An investigation into former coach Marco Borsato was dropped. The case against Rietbergen was later dropped as well.
Ali B was convicted of rape and attempted rape and sentenced to two years in prison. The appeal is still ongoing.
To prevent such abuses from happening again, RTL implemented a new code of conduct at The Voice. Among other things, participants will no longer be allowed to be alone with coaches or other employees. And online contact will happen through an app that records the messages. The coaches have been screened by independent experts, and the broadcaster set up external and internal reporting points where people can turn to for help.
