Two teenagers arrested in Amsterdam after police fired warning shot
Two 14-year-old boys were arrested Friday in Amsterdam after they were seen with objects resembling firearms, prompting police to fire a warning shot during the arrest. The incident occurred around 6:25 p.m. on Baden Powellweg in the western part of the city.
The boys attracted the attention of police officers due to their "suspicious behavior," which included wearing face coverings and gloves. Officers in plain clothes decided to investigate further.
Upon approaching the boys, one of the officers spotted an item that appeared to be a firearm. As a result, one of the boys was detained, and a warning shot was fired during the arrest. The other boy fled on a fatbike, discarding an object that also resembled a firearm. He was apprehended shortly afterward.
One of the objects that appeared to be a firearm was seized by the police, later determined to be a replica gun. The object discarded by the second boy was not recovered.
