Snapchat Murder: Man convicted of killing younger girlfriend’s father

The court in Breda sentenced Jeroen L. to 20 years in prison on Friday for the murder of Gradus Haisch (58) in Wouwse Plantage. The 37-year-old allegedly came up with the plan to kill Haisch with his girlfriend at the time, who is the victim's 22-year-old daughter. Her case has not yet been dealt with.

Haisch was lured to an abandoned farm on March 24, 2023, where he thought he had an appointment to buy old steel. L. said that Haisch’s daughter and he were going to confront the victim about their secret relationship there. L. claimed that Haisch was already dead when he arrived and that he had nothing to do with it.

The court described the claim as “completely implausible and unbelievable.” They could not, however, prove which suspect committed which violent act. The two suspects are blaming each other for the crime, but there was actually a close and conscious cooperation between the two, according to the court.

The victim died due to six stab wounds, which were likely committed by L. Using a large knife that he had ordered under a false name three days earlier. L. threw his clothes and shoes away the morning after the murder. Investigators found the victim’s blood on the pieces of clothing. The suspect claimed that this had happened because he pulled a knife out of Haisch’s chest.

Snapchat messages between the suspect and his girlfriend in which they discussed the possibility of killing her father were found on L.’s phone.

The daughter also searched some “bizarre” things surrounding her father’s death, even before he had passed away. Her court hearing has been delayed until May, as she has acquired a new attorney.
