Missing Diemen woman, 52, found killed in Landsmeer home; Suspect arrested in Amsterdam
The body of Simone Alleman, who went missing on Wednesday, was found at a home in Landsmeer the following day. Evidence showed the 52-year-old Diemen woman was killed, and prompted police to take a suspect into custody, investigators confirmed on Friday.
Alleman was the co-owner of a small accounting and tax advisory firm in Landsmeer. She was last seen in the village just north of Amsterdam on January 8. Her car was discovered on Thursday at a McDonald’s in Amsterdam-Noord, where police had conducted an investigation.
“Based on information from the investigation, the police decided to enter a home on Dorpsstraat in Landsmeer. There, officers found the woman’s lifeless body,” police said. The body was found in the early evening, a few hours after police released a statement saying they were concerned for her well-being.
A 31-year-old Amsterdam man was arrested later that night, police confirmed at around 10 p.m. The man was identified as a suspect over the course of the investigation, but police have not revealed a possible motive. He was due to be questioned by police on Friday, and was only allowed to have contact with his attorney.
Alleman described herself as a married mother with at least one grandson when she was recently profiled in an article in the Telegraaf about how much fun she and her family have around the Christmas season. She and her husband have spent the last two decades collecting houses and other miniatures to place in their massive Christmas village display in their living room.
Her family opened their Diemen home up to the neighborhood to show off the display in December, she said. “Some people say it’s my second job. It’s a lot of work, but I enjoy doing it so much, it relaxes me,” she told the newspaper. “Luckily my husband likes it as much as I do, because it’s impossible to do it on your own. He was already a big fan of Christmas when we met.”
