Driver arrested after fatal accident on A67 in Eersel
Police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Belgium following a fatal car accident on the A67 near Eersel on Friday night. The crash, which occurred around 10:30 p.m., left one person dead and three others injured, authorities said in a statement.
The victim, an 18-year-old Belgian man, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was struck by multiple cars, police reported. “Unfortunately, he did not survive,” the Oost-Brabant police unit said.
According to initial findings, the accident likely occurred when the driver swerved, losing control of the vehicle, which then crashed. The exact circumstances are still under investigation by the Traffic Accident Analysis (VOA) team and forensic experts, who were deployed to the scene shortly after the incident.
The deceased and the injured individuals, also young men aged 18 and 19 from Belgium, were passengers in the vehicle. Their conditions were not immediately disclosed.
Police continue to examine the cause of the crash and whether factors such as speed, road conditions, or driver error played a role. “Our traffic specialists are thoroughly investigating,” the police said.
