Disney+ introduces advertising subscription and price increase in the Netherlands

The streaming service Disney+ will soon also offer a subscription with commercial breaks in the Netherlands. The cheaper subscription, introduced in 2022 for viewers who have no problem with advertising, will be available in the Netherlands from October 17. Existing customers need to beware, as their subscriptions will become more expensive.

Several streaming services, including Netflix, have introduced cheaper subscriptions with advertising in recent years. In doing so, they hope to attract customers who want to pay less for the streaming service. They also hope to earn additional money from advertisers in this way. Incidentally, this cheaper option from big rival Netflix is unavailable in the Netherlands.

In the Netherlands, a Disney+ subscription with advertising will cost 5,99 euros per month. Existing customers' subscriptions, which currently cost 10,99 euros per month or 109,90 euros per year, will become about 3 euros more expensive per month in the fall.

Those who do not want this will have to switch to a subscription with advertising or a standard subscription. The latter costs 99,99 euros a year or 9,99 euros a month, but can be viewed on fewer screens at the same time and in lower picture quality.
