Elderly woman attacks neighbor, 82, with axe

An 84-year-old woman from Hellevoetsluis hit her neighbor, an 82-year-old woman, on the head with an axe on Wednesday morning. The victim was rushed to a hospital with injuries, the police said.

Other neighbors found the wounded elderly woman on the street. They called the emergency services and provided first aid.

The woman was unresponsive when first responders arrived, a police spokesperson told NU.nl. They stabilized her at the scene and rushed her to a hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

The suspect also called the emergency number 1-1-2 herself. The police arrested her in her home and took her to a police station.

The police are investigating what happened.
