Code Yellow warning for heavy gusts of wind in most of the Netherlands
The KNMI also issued a Code Yellow warning for the provinces of Groningen, Zuid-Holland, and Zeeland on Saturday afternoon due to the risk of heavy gusts of wind. The national meteorological institute had previously issued a Code Yellow for Noord-Holland and Friesland, the Wadden Islands, the Wadden Sea, and the IJsselmeer region.
The warning applies to all these areas from noon to 9 p.m. Wind gusts of 75 to 90 kilometers per hour may occur.
Weeronline reported that on Saturday morning, showers will move across the country from southwest to northeast. Furthermore, the beginning of the weekend is impacted by changeable weather, with heavy gusts of wind in the west and north of the country in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will be between 18 and 21 degrees.
However, the wind will ease tonight, but a few showers are still possible. On Sunday, it will be 18 to 20 degrees with less wind, but showers will pass by again.
With the Code Yellow warning, the KNMI warns of dangerous weather. It is, therefore, advisable to be particularly alert, especially when traveling. Heavy gusts of wind could pose a problem for cyclists, trucks, and cars with trailers or caravans. Outdoor activities such as (water) sports and events can also be affected. There is also a risk of accidents due to breaking branches and flying objects such as roof tiles, which can lead to damage to houses and buildings.
