26-year-old man arrested after dozens of kilograms of ketamine were found

Police arrested a 26-year-old man from Breda on Friday for having dozens of kilograms of ketamine in his truck. The suspect spent a night in prison and was questioned on Saturday, police said.

The truck driver was driving on the A58 near Etten-Leur on Friday around 3 p.m., swerving and holding a phone in his hand. This attracted the attention of the police, who stopped him and fined him. When the police officer also examined the cargo area of the truck, he found several bags of ketamine.

The drugs and the truck were seized. Although ketamine is a drug that can be used as an anesthetic during surgeries, for example, it cannot be traded unregistered. The Health and Youth Inspectorate (IGJ) is also involved in the investigation and the police report.

In addition to the ongoing criminal proceedings, the defendant also faces a hefty fine from the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport (to which the IGJ belongs).
