Four men arrested after customs find 341,5 kilos of heroin in shipment of dresses

Four men were arrested in Zaandam on Wednesday because of the discovery of 341,5 kilos of heroin with a street value of around ten million euros. This was reported by the Public Prosecution Service on Friday. The drugs that were hidden in a shipment of dresses were found during a routine customs search of a container in the port of Rotterdam.

The container with the clothing that is suspected to have originated in Afghanistan was transported from Dubai to the Netherlands. The heroin was removed after the discovery, after which the shipment was delivered to a warehouse in Zaandam on Wednesday.

Two men from Amsterdam, aged 28 and 30, were arrested at the warehouse: a 33-year-old Zaandammer and a 43-year-old without a permanent place of residence were also arrested after a short chase. Both men broke several traffic laws during the chase. The 43-year-old is an alien who was previously declared to be undesirable in the Netherlands.

All four men were brought before the examining magistrate on Friday and may be detained for at least another fourteen days. The drugs have since been destroyed.
