25th edition of Sailing Corso Westland attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors

The 25th edition of the Sailing Corso Westland has so far attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors, a spokesperson for the organization said. The procession, with a record number of 47 decorated boats, can arrive in Delft at any time.

The sailing parade has previously visited Westland, Maassluis, and Vlaardingen. The three-day boat parade ends on Sunday around 7:30 p.m. in the home port in Honselersdijk.

On Friday, the number of visitors was somewhat disappointing due to the bad weather, the spokesperson said. About 50,000 to 75,000 people admired the sailing parade from the shore. The following two days the boats attracted more attention, around 150,000 to 200,000 visitors per day. "The Westland tour on Saturday, in particular, was busier than previous years."

"With the nice weather, it is really a party. And it is the 25th edition, so there is also reason to celebrate in that respect," said the spokesperson.

The jury thought the Corsoboot Honselersdijk was the best of the non-commercial boats. Among the commercial participants, newcomer 3D Next Level won with the corso boat The Minion Factory. On the last boat, a 3D printer spent about 1,500 hours printing all 144 parts. The audience award will be presented on Sunday evening.
