Woonbond launches reporting point for tenants to explain the impact of high rent prices

The Housing Association Woonbond calls on tenants in the private sector to let them know how excessively high rents have impacted them. The association launched the reporting point Woekerhuur on Friday specifically for this reason. The association wants to collect stories from tenants "who are paying through the nose" for their homes.

The Tweede Kamer will discuss a bill made by outgoing Minister Hugo de Jonge (Interior and Kingdom Relations), which is supposed to protect tenants in the private sector against excessive rent prices. Woonbond will bundle the stories collected through the reporting center "so that MPs who will soon discuss the law have a clear idea of what excessive rents mean for tenants."

"There has been a lot of attention lately for investors who want to keep their high profits. Meanwhile, investors in new home construction, such as pension funds, understand that regulation is necessary," Woonbond spokesperson Mathijs ten Broeke said." It is high time that the tenant is in the thoughts of the MPs again when this law is discussed."
