All occupants freed from jammed roller coaster at Plopsaland

The fire brigade in Belgium freed all nine occupants who were stuck at a high altitude on Saturday in a roller coaster in Plopsaland in De Panne, according to Belgian media. A Dutch person was among the riders.

The first two people were released just before 10 p.m. Saturday and the other seven reached the ground around 11:30 p.m. They were taken to hospitals in the area for observation.

The nine people included a Dutch person, five Belgians and three Germans. They were trapped at a height of 32 meters at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Due to heavy wind and rain, the fire brigade had trouble rescuing the riders from the roller coaster. Rescuers tried to reach the trapped people with a container attached to a large crane, but the wind hindered the operation.

It is not yet known why the roller coaster, “The Ride to Happiness by Tomorrowland,” came to a halt. The ride opened in July 2021.
