Dutch State pension age to remain 67 through 2027

The State retirement age will also not be raised further in 2027. The state secretary for social affairs, Dennis Wiersma, notified members of the Tweede Kamer on Friday that the retirement age would be frozen at 67 after it increases in the next couple of years.

The age at which people can start enjoying the state pension is linked to the average life expectancy, which is calculated by Statistics Netherlands (CBS). The State pension age will gradually increase in the coming years to 67 years in 2024.

Previously, the State pension age in 2025 and 2026 was also set at 67 years. Calculations from Statistics Netherlands show that no further increase is necessary in 2027 in order to keep the pension affordable in the future.

Any increase in the pension age is always announced five years in advance.
