Dutch farmers announce new protest 'somewhere in Randstad' next week
Farmers in the Netherlands are planning more protests. On Wednesday next week, action group Farmers Defense Force plans to hold a major demonstration "somewhere in the Randstad". And action group Agractie has two actions planned in the coming four to six weeks, De Gelderlander reports.
Exactly what these protest actions will entail, is still a mystery. Farmers Defense Force and Agractie worked together on a major farmers' protest last week. Hundreds of farmers caused traffic chaos throughout the Netherlands as they drove their tractors to The Hague to protest. According to them, the government and media are unjustly branding them as polluters and animal abusers.
Farmers Defense Force wants to drive tractors to the Randstad again next Wednesday. "But also passenger cars, buses, trucks", the action group said, according to the newspaper. The protest may be a lengthy one, because participants are advised to make sure they have enough "food and drink, warm clothing, flashlights, extra batteries for the phone and any sleeping equipment on 16 October."
The action group said that it will fight against "the real polluters of the Netherlands" on Wednesday next week. "And that is not Schiphol."
What Argractie is planning and for when is still entirely unclear. The action group did start a fundraising campaign for one of its two planned actions, with the aim of raising 120 thousand euros. "Both actions will happen without nuisance for the citizen and will be very clearly visible", Agractie said, according to De Gelderlander. "We have chosen to prepare these actions without disclosing the details due to the nature of the action."
