Explosive found in Veenendaal

An explosive was found on De Markt in Veenendaal early on Thursday morning. The police closed down the area for investigation, the Utrecht police said on Twitter.

The suspicious item was spotted at around 4:00 a.m. Explosive experts were called in to examine it and determined that it was indeed an explosive.

The Ministry of Defense's explosive disposal department is currently working on safely removing the explosive from site.
