Silent march for woman stabbed to death on Kerkrade street

Around 150 people participated in a silent march in Kerkrade on Monday night in memory of a woman who was stabbed to death there on July 10th. The march was held on what would have been the victim's 43rd birthday, NOS reports.

The silent march started and ended at the murdered woman's home on Erensteinerstraat in the Chèvremont district. The participants sung 'Happy Birthday' at the home. They described the woman to NOS as a "dear neighbor", a "friend for many" and a great "Antillean cook".

The woman, known as 'Aunt Reagan' in the neighborhood according to locals, was stabbed to death on the street on July 10th. A 52-year-old man was arrested as a suspect and is still in custody. Shortly after her death, local residents told the Telegraaf that the suspect is the victim's ex-husband and that she had a restraining order against him because he was stalking her.
