Dutch man, 61, killed in traffic accident in Spain
A serious traffic accident between a Dutch and a Belgian car in Spain left three people dead on Sunday. The victims are a 61-year-old Dutch man, a 25-year-old Belgian man, and a 2-year-old Belgian child. Three others were seriously injured, newspaper AD reports based on reports in local media.
The accident happened just after 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of the AP-7 and AP-70 highways near Alicante, about a kilometer away from a toll booth. The two vehicles collided with each other for unclear reasons.
Emergency services responded to the accident in large numbers at around 3:10 p.m. An air ambulance, two ambulances, multiple police units and helicopters, and a fire truck were deployed to the scene. First responders tried to resuscitate the child at the scene, but it was to no avail.
Two of the injured were taken to the general hospital in Alicante. The third was taken to the Sant Joan d'Alacant hospital.
The local police are investigating what caused the accident.
