Shots fired at car in Rotterdam; man critically hurt

A man was critically injured in a shooting on Westkousdijk in the Delfshaven borough of Rotterdam on Wednesday evening. He was sitting in the back of a moving car when someone opened fire on him. The driver of the car was unharmed. The police are looking for the perpetrator or perpetrators, AD report.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition. He was hit in the neck, according to the newspaper. Emergency services received calls about the incident shortly after 6:15 p.m., immediately dispatching police, ambulances, and a helicopter carrying a medical trauma team.

The shooting happened on Westkousdijk, where police found shell casings spread over a distance of 10 meters, according to the AD. The targeted car came to a stand still about 100 meters away on Slamatstraat.

Multiple witnesses told the newspaper that they saw another car speeding away after the shooting.

So far nothing is known about the identity of the victim or the motive for the attack. The police are investigating.
