Two arrested in Poland for Oss man's murder
Two men were arrested in Poland for involvement in the murder of 63-year-old Peter Hovens from Oss. The man was found dead in his apartment on Lisztgaarde in February.
The suspects are 37 and 26 years old and both from Poland, Brabants Dagblad reports. The older suspect knew the victim, though exactly how is unclear. The police were able to quickly identify the suspects based on surveillance camera footage. International arrest warrants were issued against them and they were arrested in Poland on March 6th and 16th.
Their arrests were only now announced because the police initially had difficulty determining with certainty whether the correct suspects were arrested, according to the newspaper. The police also did not want to release information prematurely, in the interest of the investigation.
The process to get the two suspects extradited to the Netherlands has already been started. The older suspect still has to serve an outstanding prison sentence in Poland, which means that he will likely only be extradited at the end of this year, Brabants Dagblad writes.
