Woman, 70, dies after being run over by motorcycle cop

A 70-year-old woman passed away after she was hit by a police officer on a motorcycle at the finish line of the Olympia's Tour cycling competition in Beneden-Leeuwen on Sunday, the organizers of the event confirmed to NOS.

Several motorcycle police officers drove in front of the cyclists in the final stage of the race. According to the organizers, the woman crossed the road unexpectedly and she was run over by one of the motorcycles. She was badly injured in the crash and later died in hospital.

The accident happened round 3:00 p.m., according to the police. After the collision, the police and the organization decided to move the finish line and scale down the winners ceremony.
