Bullet hole found in window of Rhenen city hall

A bullet hole was found in a window of the Rhenen city hall on Monday morning. The police are investigating. Mayor Hans van der Pas has no idea who could be behind this shooting, but he doesn't think that it was a targeted action, he said to De Gelderlander.

The damaged window and the bullet was discovered on Monday morning. The hole is in a window on the third and highest floor of the building, at the back where the parking space is located. The police did an extensive investigation at the scene and spoke with the city hall staff members.

There were no employees in the building at the time of the shooting. "From Saturday afternoon the city hall was closed so we do not know when it happened. The police investigation must show that", the mayor said to the newspaper.

"We received no signals from anyone that there is a threat", Van der Pas added. "In every municipality there is something, but no telephone or written threats are known. There is also no one who has a town hall ban. We are really in the dark."
