Gas leak temporarily halts Amsterdam train traffic

A gas leak near Amsterdam Central Station temporarily halted train traffic in the Dutch capital during rush hour on Monday morning. The leak was discovered around 8:30 a.m., and fixed by 9:20 a.m., but ProRail expects it will take a while yet before all trains are running on schedule again, ANP reports.

Trains running between Amsterdam Central, Duivendrecht, and Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena were affected. NS reports that the delays are decreasing.

Liander technicians were deployed to the scene, according to AT5. The grid manager told the broadcaster that the leak occurred in ProRail's internal network at the station, on the side of the Oosterdokskade. What caused the leak is not yet clear.
