Police investigate woman's death on Tilburg street

The police are investigating the death of a woman in Tilburg on Saturday night. A passerby found the woman seriously injured on Hoogvensestraat in the neighborhood of Hoogvenne, ANP reports.

Emergency services tried to resuscitate the woman, but it was to no avail. She died on the street.

The victim is 58-year-old Hennie de Laat, several sources told Brabants Dagblad. A spokesperson for the police told the newspaper that there is a very good chance she was killed in a crime, though refused to confirm the victim's identity.

Some 25 police officers combed the area around Hoogvensestraat for a perpetrator. They even searched homes' roofs and asked local residents whether they could search their gardens, according to ANP.

An autopsy will be done on the woman's body to determine how she died.
