Four injured in separate police chase accidents

Four people were injured in two separate accidents that happened during police chases on Sunday.

The first accident happened in Almere during the early hours of Sunday morning, NOS reports. The police pulled over a motorist and asked him to do a breathalyzer test. The test showed that he was over the alcohol limit. When the officer asked him to hand over his license, the driver sped away and the police gave chase. The driver lost control of his car and crashed onto a bus lane, which is below the street level. The 23-year-old driver and the 34-year-old woman in the car with him, both sustained serious injuries. They were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The second accident happened in Oudenbosch, near the N640 and Vaartweg crossing, around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, according to BN De Stem. A driver ignored patrolling officers' signal to stop and sped away. The officers gave chase. Near the crossing, the car crashed into another vehicle. The driver was thrown from the vehicle, and landed in a nearby ditch. He was rushed to the Elisabeth hospital in Tilburg, in critical condition. A woman who was in the other car, was taken to hospital with neck injuries.
