Northern Dutch provinces start staff recruitment for prospective Tesla factory

Top Dutch - Groningen, Drenthe and Friesland's campaign to bring a massive Tesla factory to north Netherlands - launched a new step in its campaigning on Monday. The northern provinces are now recruiting people to work at the prospective Tesla factory, the Leeuwarder Courant reports.

"If Tesla motors were to build a giga-factory here, would you like to work there? Sign up at TopDutch.com!", is the message being spread on social media.

Should the Tesla factory end up being built in the Netherlands, it will create some 10 thousand jobs, both in the factory itself and indirectly in the surrounding area, according to Top Dutch. And the northern Dutch provinces will be ready with prospective employees once Elon Musk decides to establish his mega-factory in north Netherlands.

Over the next four weeks, the campaign team will travel through the region to recruit young people between the ages of 16 and 36 years. The campaign started in Leeuwarden on Monday morning. Interested people can also sign up through the website.

"The recruitment is done with a wink", campaign leader Stef van der Ziel emphasized. "We obviously can't guarantee anyone a job if Tesla does come to northern Netherlands." The Top Dutch website keeps track of how many people are interested in working for Tesla in north Netherlands, and tweets it to Elon Musk on a daily basis.

A recent study showed that young Dutch are eager to work for innovative companies like Tesla, according to Top Dutch. "Millennials no longer want to work for banks, for example, knowing that they will no longer be needed in a few years because of digitalization. And no longer for the big corporates. They want to work with companies that improve the world, such as Tesla", Gerard de Boer of Top Dutch said.
