Dutch politicians wish King Willem-Alexander a happy birthday

Dutch King Willem-Alexander turns 50 years old today. A number of political party leaders took a moment to wish him a happy birthday. "It only gets better [after 50]", CDA leader Sybrand Buma said to RTL Nieuws.

"I would like to congratulate him on his 50th birthday. And everyone around him too, of course", SGP leader Kees van der Staaij said to the broadcaster. "I want to wish him a lot of wisdom. For what can a king use better than wisdom? I especially hope that he stays who he is."

"I don't know if he is waiting for my message. It's always a danger when I congratulate people on their birthday", 50Plus leader Henk Krol joked. "Majesty, you are now 50. Tomorrow you are 50Plus. I wish you a very long and beautiful life."

"I would like to congratulate the king on this milestone. He has been our king for four years now. I think he's doing an excellent job. I wish him a lot of beautiful years, also with his family", CDA leader Sybrand Buma said. When asked what changes after 50, he answered: "Life only gets more beautiful, that I can say from experience. It only gets better."

"I wish him all the best", PVV leader Geert Wilders said. "I hope he has a great birthday. And that he can stay our king for a long time."

"I wish to congratulate His Royal Highness very much." DENK leader Tunahan Kuzu said to the broadcaster. "I wish him many healthy years in which he can represent our country in a beautiful way."
