Hydrochloric acid possibly used in attack on wheelchair-bound woman
A wheelchair bound woman was attacked with a corrosive liquid on Jacob Catssingel in Breda on Friday afternoon. The woman told the police that two men on a scooter followed her from a park around 1:00 p.m. and threw the liquid over her, Omroep Brabant reports.
The perpetrators fled after attacking the woman. The police believe that hydrochloric acid was used in the attack.
Bystanders found the victim shaking and covered in the liquid and called the emergency services. Numerous units, including an ambulance, responded. The fire department removed as much of the liquid as possible from the woman's skin. She was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The extent of the woman's injuries is unclear. According to the police, she was conscious and able to answer some questions.
The fire department found two bottles of hydrochloric acid further up the street. The police closed down the road and forensic investigators are at the scene.
The police call on witnesses to come forward.
