Bystanders rescue family from sinking car
Three bystanders and four police officers rescued a father and his two young children from their car after it ended up upside down in a ditch in Bovenkarspel on Tuesday morning. They did so by lifting the car up by hand and turning it right-side-up, RTL Nieuws reports.
The Polish people were already trying to lift the car when the four officers came rushing to help. The man in the car managed to keep his kids' heads above water until the car was flipped over. The children are six months and three years old.
The three passengers were taken to a hospital for a check up. According to the police, they are doing well.
The car ended up in the ditch after a collision at the intersection of Geerling with Esdoornlaan. The driver of the other car sustained neck injuries. The Noord-Holland police are investigating the accident.
Police officer Frank Meissen reported what happened on Twitter. "Incredibly proud of bystanders and four colleagues. They made ll the difference! These are THE moments for every policeman/woman. Nice job!"
