Psych clinic wants longer treatment for teen's rapist

Psychiatric clinic De Rooyse Wissel wants convicted rapist Jos de G. to be sentenced to a longer period of institutionalized psychiatric treatment, an expert from the clinic said in the court in Den Bosch on Wednesday. According to him, if De G. is released there is a long-term risk that he will rape someone again, the Telegraaf reports.

On Monday De G. was convicted of raping 15-year-old Nicole van den Hurk in 1995. He was sentenced to five years in prison. He was acquitted of killing her. As De G. was arrested in January 2014 and has been in custody since, he already served the majority of his sentnece.

According to the expert, De G. now only has to be prepared for his return to society and will therefore be eligible for leave. The expert finds this very worrying.

The case invovling Jos de G. discussed in court in Wednesday surrounds a rape committed in 2000. It is therefore not about Nicole van den Hurk.
