NS promises more work variety for train drivers, conductors

Train drivers and conductors will get more variety in their work, NS agreed with unions VVMC, FNV and CNV while discussing the new schedule for 2017 on Tuesday, ANP reports.

Rail workers were concerned that the new schedule, which starts on December 11th, will bring back the so-called "round around the church". This term refers to drivers and conductors working on fixed routes. On Monday drivers and conductors stopped working on Amsterdam Central Station to discuss this.

According to NS, there was no question of fixed routes being reintroduced, but there was not sufficient variety in the work timetables. So the rail company will work on making adjustments in the short term.
