Martin Garrix named world's best DJ
Martin Garrix was named the best DJ in the world by DJ Mag Top 100 during the opening of the Amsterdam Dance Event on Wednesday. DJ Tiesto handed him the prize. The 20-year-old Dutch man is the youngest DJ ever to be awarded this title, NU.nl reports.
Belgian duo Dimitri Veas and Like Mike took second place and Dutch Hardwell came in third. Armin van Buuren came in fourth, thereby making the top five for the 15th year in a row.
"It's weird." Garrix said in a first reaction. "I am at the top of a list of my biggest idols. I started making music because of Tiesto. So the fact that I am above him will never make sense in my head." He added that he is "extremely grateful for the support and all the votes of the fans and i can not wait until I can show what I have in store for next year."
