Over 4,000 easyJet passengers affected by Amsterdam pilot strikes

Four recent strikes by easyJet pilots stationed at Schiphol airport affected more than 4 thousand travelers, Financieele Dagblad reports based on figures from claims organization EUclaim. The latest easyJet pilot strike in the Amsterdam airport happened on Monday morning, resulting in 14 flights being cancelled. The pilots also had labor actions in June and earlier this month. Two weeks ago seven flights were cancelled due to pilot strikes. They are protesting for a better collective bargaining agreements that includes paid sick leave, more rests between flights and a better pension scheme. On Monday there was again careful contact between the Dutch pilots association VNV and easyJet, a spokesperson for VNV said to broadcaster NOS. According to the spokesperson, the contact was limited to a few text messages. It is unclear whether anything was resolved. Airline passengers in Europe are entitled to compensation if their flights are cancelled or delayed for more than three hours, according to NU.nl.
