Food waste app connects Amsterdam restaurants to late night eaters

A new app just launched in Amsterdam solves restaurants' problem of what to do with left over food and late night eaters' problem of where to find something to eat. With ResQ restaurants can sell leftover food at reduced prices after closing time. ResQ was developed in Finland and launched in Amsterdam on Thursday and is available for both Android and iOS. The app allows restaurants, cafes and bakeries to sell unsold meals that were prepared for that way. This prevents food waste and allows businesses to make some money from food that would have ended up in the bin. Fifteen Amsterdam restaurants are already connected to the app. ResQ also plans to launch in Rotterdam and The Hague in September.
