Report: Turkish gov’t fires five diplomats at Hague embassy

Five senior staff members of the Turkish Embassy in The Hague were fired recently, Dutch newspaper AD reports after talking to temporary head of the embassy Kurtulus Aykan. According to him, the orders to fire them came from the government in Ankara. The Ankara government believes that the now fired employees have ties with the Gulen movement. Turkey believes Fethullah Guen, rival of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is behind an attempted coup in the country on July 15th. The Turkish government calls his movement FETO, which stands for Fethullah's terror organization. According to Aykan, these former employees silently infiltrated the embassy. "In the Netherlands I often hear the term 'the long arm of Ankara'. I prefer to talk about the long arm of FETO."
