Dutch traffic service: Avoid "black Saturday" holiday traffic
, NU.nl reports.
"Black Saturday" is the title traditionally given to the day on which a whole lot of traffic return from the south of France to the north, or the other way around. This always creates plenty of traffic jams, especially on the Autoroute du Soleil - the motorway to the southeast of France. On the first black Saturday of last year, there were more than 800 kilometers of traffic jams on French roads.
The ANWB encourages Dutch travelers to postpone their departure for Sunday. Those who have to leave for the French highways on Saturday, would do best to start their journey after 10:00 a.m.
