Roosendaal Pokemon hunters to help catch burglars

The Roosendaal police are calling on Pokemon Go players to keep an eye out for suspicious situations and persons while they're walking the streets hunting Pokemon. By reporting anything suspicious, Pokemon hunters can help increase safety in the city, the police believe. "It would be very nice if Pokemon Go players who notice a suspicious situation while hunting, report it to us and thus help to increase safety on the streets and stop burglars", Denise van Zundert of the Roosendaal police said. "Write down license plates of suspicious vehicles and/or a description of a suspicious person. But be aware that the cartoon characters are often hidden in places that are not - or difficultly - accessible. This can lead to reports of suspicious persons, who in retrospect turn out to be just Pokemon hunters." The police are also investigating the possibilities of turning places with many break-ins into PokeStops or PokeGyms. To encourage Pokemon hunters to help in the hunt for burglars, the police designed a special sticker which they are posting to neighborhood watch signs in a number of Roosendaal neighborhoods. The Roosendaal police stressed that Pokemon Go players should make sure that they are alert at all times while playing the game. Don't get lost in your phone and end up in a dangerous situation yourself. Keep an eye out for traffic and passersby and don't climb into other people's backyards or enter restricted areas.
