Young girl found drowned in Almere

A 10-year-old girl drowned in the Lage Vaart on Johnsonpad in Almere on Tuesday evening. She was playing with her sister and some friends, went too deep and disappeared underwater, a police spokesperson said to ANP. The police responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after a call to the emergency number. Officers immediately joined the search bystanders already initiated. The girl was found about 15 minutes later. She was removed from the water and rushed to the hospital, where she died.
