No quota needed for hiring people with disabilities

Employers will not be facing a quota for hiring disabled people this year, because they exceeded expectations in meeting last year's targets, State Secretary Jetta Klijnsma of Social Affairs and Employment announced, the Telegraaf reports. In the Social Accord - an agreement made in 2013 to ensure more social participation for disabled people - the target for last year was that 9 thousand jobs be created for disabled people both in the government and other market participants. This target was more than reached with 21 thousand such jobs created. Klijnsma therefore decided to withdraw the threat of the quota. She calls the figures "lovely". But this does not mean that employers can rest on their laurels. The Accord states that by the year 2025 there has to be at least 125 thousand jobs for people with occupational disabilities. This target is still far from being reached.
