Customs find 900 kg cocaine in banana shipment
Customs officers at the port of Rotterdam found 900 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment from Ecuador last week. Three men were arrested, the Public Prosecutor announced on Tuesday.
The drugs were detected with a scanner. The police removed the cocaine, which has a street value of around 30 million euros, and left the containers behind to see who came for it. Three men were arrested when they tried to empty the container.
The suspects are the 48 year-old-owner of the transport company that collected the bananas, a 38-year-old homeless man and a 33-year-old man from Kampen.
The three men will be arraigned on Wednesday.
