Union wants compensation for DuPont workers with infertility, pregnancy problems

Union FNV's Occupational Diseases office is now representing a group of 25 former employees of DuPont's old Lycra factory. The office wants a compensation scheme for these employees, who all suffer from health problems that could be linked to working with toxic substance DMAc, RTV Rijnmond reports. The group of employees worked in the Lycra's factory department in the 70's and 80's, where they were exposed to DMAc - a substance that's been linked to fertility problems for years. The employees had to deal with health problems like ovarian cancer, infertility, miscarriages and stillborn children. The Occupational Diseases office now wants to arrange a compensation regulation for these employees. "It's not even so much about the money, they all especially want reparation and recognition", Marian Schaapman of the office said to the broadcaster. She added that she is shocked by the file they built on this matter. "I've never seen this on such a scale. Such a unified picture in such a large group." At this stage there are no plans to turn to court. The parties first hope to settle the matter with DuPont.
