Dutch mountaineer among three dead on Mount Everest

Dutch mountaineer Eric Arnold died of altitude sickness on Mount Everest on Friday. He was the first of three confirmed deaths on the mountain over this past weekend. Two mountain climbers are still missing, Het Parool reports. An Australian woman succumbed to an acute lack of oxygen a few hours after Arnold's death. And an Indian man, Subhash Paul, died in the early hours of Monday morning after falling sick on Sunday night. Paul's group ended up in trouble during bad weather. According to the newspaper, Sherpas managed to find Paul and another climber and bring them down the mountain. Paul died on the way. Two other climbers from the group, Paresh Nath and Goutam Ghosh, are still missing. It is considered unlikely that they are still alive. Dozens of other climbers fell ill or sustained frostbite over the past days.
