Dutch mortgages pricier than most of Europe; Business loans cheap

The Netherlands is the fifth most expensive country in Europe to take out a mortgage with loan costs of 2.75 percent. For business loans, however, the Netherlands is the cheapest with loan costs of only 1.5 percent, according to figures released by the European Central Bank, NOS reports. The average borrowing cost in the eurozone is 2.20 percent, 0.17 percent lower than a year ago. Ireland is the most expensive with 3.35 percent and Finland is the cheapest with 1.19 percent. The Netherlands is in fifth place, closely followed by Greece in sixth place. The image for businesses who want to take out a loan is completely different. The average cost of credit for business loans in Europe is 1.98 percent, 0.38 percent lower than last year. Greece is most expensive with 5.15 percent. The Netherlands is cheapest with 1.5 percent, followed by Luxembourg with 1.9 percent.
