Tennis coach, Businessman argued over star Robin Haase before murder
The relationship between tennis coach Mark de J. and businessman Koen Everink was tense for months before Everink's murder. Witnesses told the police that the two started arguing about tennis player Robin Haase last year, the Telegraaf reports.
According to the witnesses, De J. felt Everink was interfering too much with Haase, De J.'s student. This turned into a confrontation last year.
De J. was arrested on Schiphol airport last month, as he returned from Miami where Haase was scheduled to play in a tennis tournament. The tennis coach is suspected of killing Everink, who was found stabbed to death in his home on March 4th.
Recent reports also indicate that Everink later lent De J. money, who was drowning in gambling debt accrued by playing online poker. The police confirmed that they are investigating outstanding debts as a possible motive for the murder.
