Twenty arrested in biker gang fight

A fight between rival motorcycle gangs in Rotterdam-Blijdorp got completely out of hand on Thursday night. One person was seriously injured and 20 people were arrested. The police confiscated a firearm and a knife. The first reports of the massive brawl were received around 8:30 p.m. The fight started in the Valk hotel on Energieweg and then spilled out onto the street. Some 40 people eating in the hotel's restaurant witnessed the confrontation. The police responded en masse. A SWAT team and helicopter were also deployed, RTV Rijnmond reports. The group scattered when the police arrived. "We arrested everyone that ran and some people hiding inside", a police spokesperson said to the broadcaster. The police spent hours searching the hotel. Guests who were already in their rooms, were told to stay there. Others were given shelter in a nearby fitness center.
