Investigation launched into Polish worker injured by pesticide

The Public Prosecutor launched a criminal investigation into chrysanthemum grower Satter-Vlug in Poederoijen after a Polish employee was poisoned by contact with a forbidden and severely hazardous pesticide, Brabants Dagblad reports. The poisoning happened on January 25th and involved banned pesticide aldicarb, according to the newspaper. The 35 year old Polish victim was taken to a doctor in Brakel after the poisoning by another employee. There an ambulance was called immediately and the man was transported to a hospital. His current condition is unknown. Aldicarb was banned in the European Union in 2004. It is considered one of the most toxic pesticides. It affects the nervous system, not only of insects, but also that of mammals, including humans. So far the Public Prosecutor will not comment on the investigation.
