Zaandam shooting leaves two injured
Two men were injured in a shooting incident in a home on Brandaris in Zaandam on Thursday afternoon. The police are looking for witnesses.
The police responded to the home around 2:50 p.m. after receiving a report of gunshots. They found one wounded man inside the home. The other managed to get out of the house and was found in the immediate vicinity of the North Sea.
Both men are residents of Zaandam. One is 51 years old, the other 53. Both were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The 51 year old victim is in stable condition. The 53 year old was seriously injured.
The police immediately launched an investigation, closing down the area around the house and where the second man was found near the North Sea.
According to the police, the perpetrators fled the scene in a gray Renault with French license plate. Anyone who noticed this car or saw anything suspicious near the Brandaris and North Sea on Thursday should contact the police at once.
