Baby found in stolen car after 10km police chase

A baby was found in the back of a stolen Opel after a short police chase in Amstelveen on Thursday afternoon. Several police cars chased the Opel from the A10 towards Amstelveen, according to broadcaster NOS. About ten minutes later the police managed to force the car to a stop in the town center. The 18 year old male driver and his 21 year old female passenger were arrested. When the police searched the car, they found a baby in a cradle on the back seat. The assumption is that the suspects are the baby's parents, but the police are still investigating. The police called in Youth care and the baby was placed in a care institution.
