Jumbo issues smoked salmon recall; tested positive for listeria

Supermarket Jumbo issued a recall for for two smoke salmon products of the Jumbo brand. Listeria bacteria was found in a random sample at supplier H. van Wijnen from Krimpen aan de Ijssel, broadcaster NOS reports. Listeria can be dangerous in general, but especially to pregnant women, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system. The products involved are shredded smoke salmon, 150 grams with the expiry date 29-02-2016 and smoked salmon slices, 100 grams with expiry dates 23-02-2016, 25-02-2016, 26-02-2016 and 01-03-2016. Anyone who purchased one of these products are advised not to eat it and can take it back to a Jumbo supermarket for a refund, with or without receipt. As far as is known, no other stores sold these salmon products.
