Proposal to end Netherlands hunting tourism introduced

State Secretary Martijn van Dam of Economic Affairs is discussing a ban on hunting tourism in the Netherlands with the provinces and the Royal Hunters Society, he said on Monday in response to questions from the PvdA and PvdD, Z24 reports. Both parties raised concerns when they heard about American site GetDucks.com offering its clients five days of unlimited goose hunting in the Netherlands for only 4,600 dollars. According to Van Dam, provinces may get help from guest hunters for goose hunting, but he disapproves of "organizing commercial hunting trips and the association it evokes". He believes that duck hunting must only be allowed if it serves a social purpose, such as preventing collisions with aircraft.
